Tarping and board-up
Tarps and board-up that hold until the rebuild
A tarp is a temporary roof. We photograph the damage first, cover the opening, and write down what we did so your claim has a record.
We fasten the tarp over the roof deck and lap it so water runs off instead of pooling. Broken windows and doors get plywood cut to fit. Every cover is photographed before and after and listed on its own line of the estimate.
A tarp is not a repair. It is meant to last until the rebuild, and sun and wind wear it down, so tell us if a corner lifts.

- 02
Step 2: The crew comes
We look at the roof from the ground first, then go up if it is safe.
- 03
Step 3: We cover and photograph

- 04
Step 4: You get the record
A short written list of what we covered, to send with your claim.
Permits and rules
A tarp or board-up is emergency work and usually needs no permit. The rebuild does, and we pull it.
In a storm warning, crews can be booked up. We tell you when we can be there, and if it is not today we tell you what to do in the meantime.
Questions
Common questions
How long does a tarp last?
It is meant to hold until the roof is repaired, which is usually weeks, not months. Sun and wind wear it down.
Should I tarp it myself?
Please don't climb on a wet or damaged roof. Photograph from the ground and call us.
Do you board up at night?
The tarp line is answered day and night. If an after-hours job carries a charge, we say so before we start.
Water coming in?
Call the tarp line. If you can, text photos of the roof and the inside.
